Lucía Ohyama
I am a tango dancer, teacher, and producer with more than two decades of experience in the world of tango.
Throughout my career, I have worked across performance, education, and production, developing artistic projects with companies and organizations both nationally and internationally.
I have been part of shows, festivals, tours, and educational programs, exploring tango in its many forms.
This journey has allowed me to understand tango not only as a stage or social dance, but as a profound and living language.
Through dance, teaching, and production, my approach is to create experiences where tango is accessible, human, and meaningful — honoring its tradition while engaging in dialogue with the present.
My approach
Tango is a living language — a way of connecting with our bodies, our emotions, one another, and the world around us.
My purpose
As a dancer, I seek to create worlds through dance. To take the audience into an imaginary place, where they can leave the everyday behind for a moment and allow themselves to feel, dream, and connect from another place.
As a producer, I seek to create spaces for encounter through art: between artists and audiences, between people and the society we inhabit, and also with ourselves.
I believe in art as a tool capable of bringing us closer, making us ask questions, opening new perspectives, and creating meaningful connections. Creating those spaces, making them possible, and giving them meaning is also part of the way I understand production.
